My first cruise on the Celebrity Summit Dec. 31, 2011

My husband, our 13 month old daughter and I were on our very first cruise on New Year's Eve 2011 aboard the Celebrity Summit. We were on the 7 night Southern Caribbean trip leaving from San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were going to five different islands and had only one day at sea, New Year's Day.

The ports of call were:

1) Georgetown, Barbados
2) St. George's, Grenada
3) Roseau, Dominica

The ABC islands

In December 2011 we boarded the HAL Noordam in Fort Lauderdale for our first trip to the very southern Carribean. We picked this cruise for the itinerary of Aruba Bonnaire and Curacao. What a nice time to visit these islands located only 30 miles from the South American coast. The Dutch influence is evident in each of these Antilles yet with their own unique personality.

Cruise port of Florence / Pisa

During or mediterainian cruise in late august 2011 our ship docked in Livorno , gateway to Florence and Pisa. The ships excursion would have cost our family of 5 over $1000 euro; so we had to find a cheaper way to get around. We hired a Taxi from a tour company online called Co-Ta-La; an air-conditioned mini van picked us up at the ships gang plank and took us to florence and then onto pisa .

HK LAN KWAI FONG

Do you know LKF is?
When I lived in HK, I always went there, as that was kind of where the expats would hire out. they would talk about rugby, football, soccer, cricket and all kinds of sports. I loved the atmosphere. Fridays and weekends were awesome packed!

Check out bar 1997, loved the atmosphere, not sure if it is still there anymore.
Enjoy it next time you are in HK!!!

GO LKF GO!

Den Hague

We spent a day in this beautiful city in late August 2011, the weather was cool so we had to wear or spring jackets and pants ( I love to wear shorts always) . We spent a lot of time viewing rembrant at the Mauritshuis Mueseum, we used a holland pass we bought at the airport( highley recommended). I 10 year old just loved all the masterpieces.

delft

During our euro tour in late august 2011 we visited delft. Best way to describe this town is a smaller version of Amsterdam minus the Hippies, Drug shops, gay bars , and prostitutes. Many quaint canals and floating restaurants . We happened to be there on a day when the weekly market happened in the main square of town.

Messina Sicily

Our ship docked here in late august 2011, I believe it was a week day, we did not want to do any of the ship excursions because they did not sound interesting. There was an excursion to taormina sicily which had ancient roman ruins but by this time we had seen florence , rome , pompei so we did not want to fork over $1000. for a family of 5 . Messina was a small city so we decided to rome around.

Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas

Note: Here's my entry in hopes of winning the trip to Hong Kong!

The location of Bally's is great because it's in the center of the strip. We upgraded to the North Tower. The air conditioning was a bit noisy and was limited in our ability to adjust it. Sometimes, it was just too strong. The staff was okay. The line up could be a bit long to check-in. Our room was spacious.
