Tamarind Hotel Barbados - Elegance with a twist

The newly revitalized and renewed Tamarind in Barbados is a splash of riotous color on an otherwise glittering Platinum (or west) Coast. Set on 750 feet of glorious sandy beach this very charming hotel re-opened in early November 2010 after a major refurbishment program changed much of the property.

Vibrant color sets the tone in the public areas of the hotel especially around each of the two lovely main pools. Chaise longues with bright and comfy covers, expansive seating areas, cushioned banquettes and dining chairs are all hued in tropical shades and the hotel has cleverly created new deck space with wood and sand right by the ocean. All of this, combined with warm, friendly and gracious service makes Tamarind a great choice for a Caribbean vacation.

The property has 104 rooms and suites, all of which have been very nicely refurbished and decorated. Amenities include a flat screen TV, internet connectivity for a small fee, an iPod docking station, AC, small fridge and a good closet with robes, slippers and a safe. Bathrooms have tubs with shower and in some cases an extra sink and vanity area. And even with rooms further back from the sea, a lovely view of the beach and ocean is often available. The RILAKS pool has a casual pool bar and a tapas menu for the evening and the larger pool area close to the main dining room also has a bar, poolside drinks service and a spot for outdoor lunch dining.

Other amenities include a kids room, a teens room, a small business center, a spa and an adults only small pool area by the spa as well as several high end boutiques.

While the hotel has its own restaurant called 246 it is also adjacent to fabulous Daphne’s, an Italian restaurant, owned by the same company and located right on the beach. This is a great dining experience with excellent food and service.
