Our Ship - Viking Surkov

The Viking Surkov was our home for our 13 day cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg. The Viking fleet in Russia is by far the most luxurious cruise ship fleet sailing the Volga.

The ship features three, walk-around, open air promenade decks. You can watch the scenery from every possible vantage point.

Considering it sails on rivers, not oceans, the ship is spacious: accommodating 210 guests in suites and staterooms, all with hotel-style beds, flat screen TVs, refrigerators, and cleanly elegant Northern European décor.

No surprise! The restaurant is the focal social spot on the ship, with panoramic windows, and open seating at tables that invited us to make new friends. Dining is a highlight of shipboard life: 4 course meals, fabulous wines, intriguing local cuisine, and special moments like a Samovar tea service.

With such a small number of guests, passengers and crew get to know each other quickly; within days, wherever we went on the ship, we had new friends to talk to.

And the view! The Sun Deck isn't just for sunny days and scenic forests; It was also our favourite place to soak in the breathtaking sunsets that last for hours during Russia's mid-summer 'White Nights'.
